Trauma is not only a personal experience, but also a cultural and multi-generational one. We inherit unresolved trauma from our ancestors, both through direct transmission in the womb and through learned behaviours that come with it.
For generations, trauma has been passed down from parent to child, and it’s only in recent years that we’ve begun to uncover truly effective ways to resolve it.
On top of this, industrialised culture doesn’t exactly foster trauma healing—it often perpetuates it. The stress of polluted environments, demanding schedules, economic inequality, lack of paid leave, and cultural norms that suppress emotional expression all contribute to this cycle.
We’re just beginning to wake up to the need for healing on both an individual and collective level, and while progress is being made, it will take time for this healing to truly take hold.
